Andrey B asked:

Can I get a bank account as a 15 year old with checking and debit, and not have my parents sign up for it? Where can I get one?

na you have to be 18 lol

  2. Not in the United States. All accounts require a legal guardian over the age of 18 to co-sign. It is federal law.

Not in the United States. You must be of legal age. You could open up a savings account, I believe. I would wait until you are old enough to have a job first, then ask your parents for a checking account.

Use checks for a while too, before you move to credit/plastic/debit. It’s much easier to manage in the beginning and helps you later on with financial responsibilities. This is what I did, and now I do all my banking online, even my taxes! Go TurboTax!

    Good luck.

If you need to talk to your parents about financial stuff, I’m sure they would be more than happy to help you understand about financial responsibilities.

My sister kind of messed up there and she opened up her own account after she bounced 3 checks and didn’t pay for them or the overdraft fees, and then, she took out her own loan for who knows what!

She’s in a world of credit hurt right now. You don’t want that to be you!
